Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply when you use Upgrader.ie. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.
Acceptance of these terms
By using Upgrader.ie, you accept these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with them, you should not use the site.
Who operates Upgrader.ie
Upgrader.ie is operated by Paul Hudson, trading as Magenta Online Marketing (opens in a new tab), a business name registered in Ireland under number 452949. Registered business address: 2 Magenta Hall, Santry, Dublin 9, D09 FW97. Email: info@magenta.ie.
General informational purpose
Upgrader.ie provides general information about home upgrades, such as solar PV, heat pumps, insulation and windows and doors, and about household services, such as electricity, broadband, waste and home insurance, for households in Ireland. The content is intended to help you understand a topic and prepare before you contact an installer, request a quote or compare a service. It is not personalised advice for your specific property or circumstances.
Not personalised or regulated advice
Nothing on Upgrader.ie is personalised engineering, building, legal, tax, financial or regulated insurance advice. Where a subject requires that kind of advice, such as the structural suitability of your home for a particular upgrade, or a decision about a specific insurance policy, you should get advice from a suitably qualified professional or a regulated firm before acting.
No guarantee of outcomes
We do not guarantee that you will achieve any particular saving, that you will be eligible for any grant, that you will receive any particular quotation, that an installation will be of a particular quality, that a provider or installer will accept your enquiry, or any other outcome referred to on the site. Grant schemes, eligibility rules, prices, provider availability and scheme terms can change and can depend on circumstances specific to your property or household.
Calculators and illustrative examples
Calculators and worked examples on Upgrader.ie, such as the Solar Payback calculator, the Home Insurance Check or similar tools, are provided to illustrate how a calculation works. They are based on the figures you enter and on general assumptions, are not a quote, and should not be relied on as an accurate prediction of your actual costs, savings or eligibility.
Checking current official details
Grant amounts, eligibility rules, tariffs, prices and provider terms referred to on Upgrader.ie can change after a page is published. You are responsible for checking current, official details directly with the relevant body, such as SEAI, the CRU, ComReg or your provider, before making a decision, relying on any figure shown on this site, or spending money.
Independent third parties
Upgrader.ie links to external websites, including Government and regulator websites, to installers and suppliers through our Find Installers pages, and to Selectra Ireland, an independent external commercial partner, for electricity, broadband and waste comparison and switching services. Each of these independent third parties is responsible for its own services, contracts, advice and information, not Upgrader.ie. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, conduct or how they handle your data. Using a third-party service linked from Upgrader.ie is subject to that third party's own terms and privacy policy.
A link, referral or directory listing on Upgrader.ie does not create an agency relationship between Upgrader.ie and an independent third party, and does not amount to an approval, endorsement or guarantee of that third party or its services. If you enter into a contract or other arrangement with an independent third party, that contract is between you and the third party. Upgrader.ie is not a party to it and is not responsible for its performance.
CompareInsuranceIreland.ie
CompareInsuranceIreland.ie is different from the independent third parties above: it is a separate related website operated by Paul Hudson, trading as Magenta Online Marketing, the same operator as Upgrader.ie, providing insurance information and access to its own home insurance comparison service. Any insurance product, quotation or contract available through CompareInsuranceIreland.ie is provided by the relevant insurer or regulated intermediary, not by Upgrader.ie. Upgrader.ie does not provide insurance advice, arrange insurance, handle premiums or administer claims.
Commercial referrals
Some pages describe a route for readers to request comparison or switching assistance from Selectra Ireland, or to access CompareInsuranceIreland.ie's home insurance comparison service, and the operator of Upgrader.ie may receive a payment when that route leads to a completed arrangement. See our Our Partnerships page for full detail. Using a route like this does not commit you to proceeding, and any resulting contract is between you and the provider of that service, not Upgrader.ie.
Intellectual property
The text, design and layout of Upgrader.ie, other than material we credit to a third party, belongs to Upgrader.ie or its operator. You may view and share pages for personal, non-commercial use. You should not copy, republish or reproduce substantial parts of the site without permission.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse Upgrader.ie, for example by attempting to interfere with how the site works, scraping content at scale, or using the site for an unlawful purpose.
Availability and changes to the website
We try to keep Upgrader.ie available and up to date, but we do not guarantee that the site, or any particular page, tool or calculator, will always be available, uninterrupted or error free. We may change, add to, or remove content, including these terms, at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Irish law, Upgrader.ie and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website, including any decision made on the basis of information, a calculation or a referral described on the site, or from the acts or omissions of a third party we link to or refer you to. This limitation does not exclude or limit liability for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under Irish law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Rights that cannot be excluded
Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or limit any right you have as a consumer under Irish or EU law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited by agreement.
Severability
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable under Irish law, that part is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining terms continue to apply in full.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from your use of Upgrader.ie.
See our Disclaimer for a shorter summary of the key points, and our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal data.
